With a five-year grant from the Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute of Child Health & Human Development, PRB has established this center (www.prb.org/cpipr/) to foster greater understanding of the results of research in the population sciences and their implications for public- and private-sector decisionmakers. The Center's work includes disseminating relevant research results to policy and media audiences through news releases, conferences and seminars, and print and electronic publications. The topics covered by the Center include the core topics of demography, including marriage and the family, fertility, migration, and mortality, as well as the social and economic implications of demographic change.
The Center's director is William P. Butz, who also is the president and CEO of PRB. Eight distinguished affiliates from population research centers across the United States guide and contribute to the Center's work. PRB staff members working on Center projects include demographers, editors, and writers with experience as working journalists.
