Using Technology to Prevent Dating Violence and Improve College Safety

December 2016: Event At a recent symposium at Johns Hopkins University, researchers and policy advocates described how technology can be both a tool to perpetrate and to prevent sexual violence. They explored research on the prevalence of sexual violence on college campuses and examined evidence on technology-based prevention strategies, including smartphone apps to help avert dating violence and connect victims with assistance.

Activism Against Gender Based Violence

November 2016: Event Begun in 1991, this year marks the 25th anniversary of the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence campaign, commemorated around the world with activities from November 25—International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women—through December 10—International Human Rights Day—symbolically linking violence against women and human rights, thus emphasizing that such violence is a human rights violation.

Noncommunicable Disease Report Event in New Delhi

November 2016: Event On July 21, 2016, PRB hosted a regional event in New Delhi to launch a new package of publications—policy report, data sheet, and data appendix—on NCD risk factors among young people across Asia. The four main NCD risk factors are tobacco, alcohol use, unhealthy diet, and physical inactivity. Rates for these risk factors are already high or increasing throughout the region.

A Healthy Youth Subgroup sponsored presentation on Human trafficking at PRB

May 2016: Event On May 13th there will be a presentation at PRB on Human Trafficking sponsored by the Healthy Youth Subgroup. This is a brown bag presentation to be held from 11:30 am to 1:30 pm. Our speakers are Laura Cordisco Tsai and Michele Clark.
