(Oct. 11, 2014) Two years ago, the United Nations inaugurated the International Day of the Girl, commemorated on Oct. 11, to put girls' rights at the center of development efforts with a focus on ending child marriage. Last year, the UN and partnering organizations promoted girls' education. This year's theme is "Empowering Adolescent Girls: Ending the Cycle of Violence." PRB recognizes the importance of investing in and empowering adolescent girls to prevent and ultimately end the cycle of gender-based violence.
