PRB Conducts Search for President and CEO
For Release: Feb. 4, 2011
Washington, DC – William P. Butz, president and CEO of the Population Reference Bureau, has resigned effective Feb. 11, 2011, after seven years to join the International Institute for Applied Systems Analysis (IIASA) as a senior research scholar, and the Wittgenstein Centre for Population and Global Human Capital as director of coordination and outreach. Both organizations are based in Vienna, Austria.
The firm Russell Reynolds Associates is conducting the search for Butz's successor. Under the leadership of Faith Mitchell, PRB's board chairwoman, and a search committee, Russell Reynolds will soon launch a global effort to fill the position.
"PRB's board and staff are sorry to see Bill go. He has done a terrific job over the past seven years and the organization is in great shape. Bill's leadership, in both substance and style, has markedly elevated PRB's contributions," says Faith Mitchell. "His work with the new Wittgenstein Centre will be exciting. All the components of his distinguished career appear to be preparations for this challenge."
In the interim, James E. Scott, PRB's CFO/COO, will serve as acting president. "We look forward to the new president and CEO, knowing that we are in excellent hands with Jim Scott as acting president," Mitchell notes.
