Engaging men as clients, partners, and agents of change can increase family planning use, improve health outcomes for men and women, strengthen families and communities, advance gender equality, and transform gender norms.
This infographic explores what it means to constructively engage men, and highlights promising strategies and programs. Family planning promotion and services are often focused on women, but men should be viewed as family planning users too. Promoting increased accessibility, acceptability, and use of male family planning options, such as condoms and vasectomy, has the potential to increase use of modern contraceptives; increase healthy timing and spacing of births; and improve health and well-being for men, women, and children.
