PRB staff are organizing engaging sessions and offering their expertise at the 2018 Population Association of America meetings in Denver from April 25-April 28. Join us for a popular session on communicating with policymakers and the media or a new member-initiated session on reproductive health and women’s empowerment.
WOMEN’S ECONOMIC EMPOWERMENT AND FAMILY PLANNING
Friday, April 27, 10:00am– 12:00pm
Plaza Ballroom D
This session will explore the current evidence on the relationship between women’s economic empowerment, reproductive health, and family planning, as well as how this evidence can inform policymaking. Speakers will make brief presentations on findings from research conducted in a range of countries, including Bangladesh, Ghana, and Colombia. A short keynote from Dr. Natalia Kanem, UNFPA’s Executive Director will address the question: why and how a focus on women’s economic empowerment can advance policy and human rights agendas in women’s reproductive health. The session will end with an opportunity for the audience to engage with speakers in a panel-style question and answer segment.
Refreshments will be served.
