Census Bureau transmits redistricting files to states, with all transmittals complete by March 31, 2021.

Redistricting files contain housing unit counts and population data by race/ethnicity, voting age, and gender.

NEW: Redistricting files will contain group quarters data.

Advertising begins in January.

Data collection begins (March 2020).

Census Day: April 1, 2020.

First Data Release: December 31, 2020 (state totals reported).


Field offices begin to open.

Evaluation of End-to-End Test.

Defect Resolution and Performance Testing.

Formation of Complete Count Committees.

Early Education Phase of Communications Program begins.

Address Canvassing is completed.


Question wording sent to Congress by March 31.
