The world population at mid-2017 was an estimated 7.5 billion. Of that total, Africa accounted for 1.3 billion people, compared with 1 billion in the Americas, 3.1 billion in Asia, 745 million in Europe (which includes all of Russia), and 42 million for Oceana (which includes Australia and New Zealand). The most populous country was China with 1.4 billion people.
