Counting Kids in Census 2000: Results and Challenges

(February 2005) For many decades, the U.S. decennial census reflected an undercount of the nation’s population. Certain segments of the population, including children, continue to prove hard to count. But the coverage of children was better in Census 2000 than in 1990.
