PRB Welcomes David Lessing to Its Board of Trustees

WASHINGTON, DC — The Population Reference Bureau (PRB) announced that David Lessing, a wealth management and financial services leader and Chief Operating Officer of the Dalio Family Office, joined its Board of Trustees on October 2, 2026. His appointment comes as PRB approaches its 100th anniversary in 2029 and is focused on ensuring its financial sustainability for the next century.

At the Dalio Family Office, where he supports the investments and philanthropic activity of Bridgewater Associates founder Ray Dalio, his wife Barbara Dalio, and their family, Lessing draws on more than 25 years of leadership experience across wealth management, financial services, and fintech.

“David brings deep financial expertise and a clear view of how philanthropy can sustain important work,” said PRB President and CEO Jennifer D. Sciubba. “In this new funding environment, we’re excited to have him in our corner as we work to ensure PRB’s evidence-based work endures for the next 100 years.”

Before joining the Dalio Family Office in 2021, Lessing held CEO, senior executive, and board roles across a portfolio of private investments and financial services startups, including serving as Chief Revenue Officer of Addepar, the investment analytics and reporting platform. Earlier, he spent six years at Morgan Stanley Wealth Management, where he was Head of Strategy for Global Wealth Management, evaluated acquisition options during the financial crisis, and co-led the integration of the Morgan Stanley and Smith Barney wealth businesses. He later served as Chief Operating Officer of the U.S. Wealth Management Group, overseeing roughly 6,000 employees. He also held Managing Director roles at Marsh & McLennan and Merrill Lynch and was an Engagement Manager at McKinsey & Company.

“Demographics may not be my field, but my career has shown me how much financial management depends on it: how long people live and work, what they save, and how wealth passes between generations,” Lessing said. “With demographic change shaping so many decisions today, I’m excited to see how my experience can help strengthen PRB’s impact and longevity.”

Lessing began his career practicing securities, antitrust, and intellectual property law at Simpson Thacher & Bartlett. He holds a bachelor’s degree in economics from Harvard University and a JD from Harvard Law School.
