Mark Mather

Associate Vice President, Programs

Mark Mather is Associate Vice President of Programs at PRB. He has more than 25 years of experience communicating population research to policymakers, educators, journalists, and the public. He has authored more than 75 reports and briefs on U.S. population trends and their implications, specializing in issues related to child, family, and older adult well-being. He directs PRB’s Federal Data Forum, which provides policymakers and practitioners with accessible data and analysis on federal programs and policy. He also directs the Center for Public Information on Population Research, funded by NICHD, and leads PRB’s efforts to translate and communicate scientific evidence on the demography and economics of aging and Alzheimer’s disease to decisionmakers in government, business, and nonprofit organizations.

Mather holds a bachelor’s degree in Anthropology from Penn State University and master’s and doctorate degrees in Sociology from the University of Maryland, College Park. He is an appointed member of the Population Association of America’s Committee on Applied Demography. His research has been cited by The New York Times, the Associated Press, the Huffington Post, the Wall Street Journal, and many other media outlets.
