Faith and Families for a Healthier Kenya: An ENGAGE Presentation

โ€œFaith and Families for a Healthier Kenyaโ€ is an ENGAGE multimedia presentation that portrays why family planning is consistent with religious values. Using data and graphics to explain how investments in family planning lay the groundwork to strengthen families, improve the health of mothers and children, and achieve national development, the objective of this presentation is to promote advocacy and dialogue about family planning among religious communities. Examples of audiences include religious leaders, government officials and policymakers, donors, health-sector and education-sector leaders, civic leaders, advocates for reproductive health, and journalists.

This 14-minute presentation was developed by Kenyaโ€™s National Council for Population and Development, Inter-Religious Council of Kenya, and PRB, with guidance from a Kenya ENGAGE task force comprised of religious leaders and representatives from the faith and reproductive health communities in Kenya. The presentation was developed with support from USAID Kenya under IDEAโ€”Informing Decisionmakers to Act.

โ€œFaith and Families for a Healthier Kenyaโ€ is available in two formatsโ€”with and without a recorded narration. The presentation can be streamed or downloaded on the PRB website or streamed via PRBโ€™s YouTube channel; CD-roms are also available on request. A presentation guide and key messages handout are also available to provide facilitators with the skills to effectively deliver the presentation.

With funding from the U.S. Agency for International Development, IDEAโ€”Informing Decisionmakers to Actโ€”increases support among policy audiences for effective health and population programs around the world. By increasing the flow of accurate, understandable information about population, family planning, and reproductive health to policy audiences, IDEA enhances efforts carried out by civil society, the public sector, the development community, and donors. Under IDEA, PRB has developed a series of dynamic multimedia ENGAGE presentations to engage global leaders and country-level policymakers in issues related to family planning, reproductive health, and other key development issues.
