Carrying Malawi Forward: Investing in Sexual and Reproductive Health for Young People

โ€œCarrying Malawi Forward: Investing in Sexual and Reproductive Health for Young Peopleโ€ is a 15-minute ENGAGE presentation that seeks to make youth sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) a priority on Malawiโ€™s policy agenda. To achieve this goal, the presentation is designed to promote policy dialogue on the critical role of youth sexual and reproductive health and rights in achieving development goals. Target policy audiences include government policymakers, civic and religious leaders, health-sector leaders, program officials, youth advocates, journalists, and others.

Carrying Malawi Forward: Investing in Sexual and Reproductive Health for Young People (English)

This presentation was developed in consultation with the Ministry of Finance, Economic Planning and Development, the Ministry of Youth and Sports, the National Youth Council of Malawi, and a national-level advisory group comprised of population specialists, reproductive health professionals, youth advocates, and young people. The presentation was supported by USAID Malawi under the Informing Decisionmakers to Act (IDEA) project.

โ€œCarrying Malawi Forwardโ€ is available with and without a voiceover in English and in Chichewa. The presentation can be downloaded on the PRB website or streamed via PRBโ€™s YouTube channel; CD-ROMs are also available on request. A userโ€™s guide and key messages handout (in English and Chichewa) are also available to provide facilitators with skills and resources to effectively deliver the presentation. Guidance on the technical aspects and requirements of ENGAGE presentations is also available.

With funding from the U.S. Agency for International Development, IDEAโ€”Informing Decisionmakers to Actโ€”increases support among policy audiences for effective health and population programs around the world. By increasing the flow of accurate, understandable information about population, family planning, and reproductive health to policy audiences, IDEA enhances efforts carried out by civil society, the public sector, the development community, and donors. Under IDEA, PRB has developed a series of dynamic multimedia ENGAGE presentations to engage global leaders and country-level policymakers in issues related to family planning, reproductive health, and other key development issues.
