PRB Taps Aïssata Fall to Lead Its Work in Africa

WASHINGTON, May 9, 2023—PRB today announced new leadership for its work in Africa. Aïssata Fall has been appointed to the new position of Africa Director, where she will provide vision and direction to ensure PRB’s work in the region aligns with its mission.

Fall was previously PRB’s Regional Representative for West Africa and has been instrumental in building partnerships in the Francophone region. She joined PRB in 2020 and has more than 25 years of experience in West and Central Africa, supporting local development, democratic dialog, decentralization and access to social services.

“Aïssata brings tremendous insight, experience and energy to our leadership, and a proven track record of successful collaboration with our partners in Africa,” said Barbara Seligman, PRB’s Chief Strategy and Growth Officer and Senior Vice President of International Programs. “There could not be a better person to guide us in this new and exciting role.”

As Africa Director, Fall is responsible for developing long-term outcomes, executing PRB’s strategy in the region and providing leadership to propel impact and growth. She leads a global team, including PRB staff and fellows, consultants and strategic partners.

“Aïssata’s reputation and knowledge precede her,” said Chrysanthus Shem, PRB’s Regional Director for East and Southern Africa. “I am confident her direction will both enhance our existing programs and help us build new and stronger relationships throughout the continent.”

Prior to PRB, Fall worked for international development agencies and African governments, where she provided various stakeholders with technical, operational and strategic support to design and implement social protection programs and policies. She is based in Dakar, Senegal.
