PRB’s Mark Mather Joins COPAFS Board to Advance the Future of Federal Data
New board members "have been exceptional champions" for federal statistical agencies, organization says
PRB’s Mark Mather has been named to the Board of Directors of COPAFS, the Council of Professional Associations on Federal Statistics. He joins two other distinguished colleagues: Peggy Carr, former Commissioner of the National Center for Education Statistics (NCES), and Rob Santos, former Director of the U.S. Census Bureau.
“We’re excited for the fresh perspective these three seasoned researchers will bring to our efforts to support and defend the federal statistical system,,” said Andy Weiss, Chair of the COPAFS Board. “Throughout their careers, they have been exceptional champions for the statistical agencies that produce the nation’s data.”
“I’m glad to join the COPAFS Board at a moment when the federal statistical system needs its advocates,” Mather said. “I’m looking forward to working with Peggy Carr and Rob Santos.”
Since 1981, COPAFS has provided an open dialog between federal statistics users and the agencies that produce them—a mission that is increasing urgent. Member organizations include the American Association for Public Opinion Research, the American Psychological Association, and the American Statistical Association.
