Uganda has two national strategies that commit to increasing family planning programming. Yet, the national allocations for family planning in 2017/18 contributed less than 10 percent of the funds necessary to implement both strategies.
A global database on the prevalence of risk behaviors among youth for noncommunicable diseases (NCDs) highlights the need to focus on young people to tackle the growing NCD epidemic—especially in low- and middle-income countries.

(2018) Uganda’s Kalangala District has higher rates of HIV and teenage pregnancy than most of the country. Almost 50 percent of teenage girls in the district are mothers and 18 percent of adults have HIV—both rates are two to three times higher than the rest of Uganda.

When women with unwanted pregnancies encounter barriers to accessing abortion such as restrictive laws, they often resort to unsafe abortion.
Project: PACE: Policy, Advocacy, and Communication Enhanced for Population and Reproductive Health
An ENGAGE presentation that serves as an advocacy tool to promote integrated population, health, and environment (PHE) approaches, and the value of family planning/reproductive health (FP/RH) investments by decisionmakers in health and nonhealth sectors, such as natural resource management and conservation.

In 2018, Population Reference Bureau (PRB) and the International Youth Alliance for Family Planning (IYAFP) conducted interviews and focus groups in three Ethiopian regions to assess implementation of youth-friendly contraceptive services.
