PRB Appoints Yoonjoung “YJ” Choi to Its Board of Trustees

WASHINGTON—PRB today announced the appointment of Yoonjoung “YJ” Choi to its Board of Trustees.

A data scientist and demographer, Choi is the founder and director of iSquared, a consulting firm specializing in public health and international development. She has more than 20 years of experience helping organizations transform data into actionable information and insight for improved decision-making.

Before founding iSquared, Choi was technical deputy director of the Performance Monitoring and Accountability 2020 project at Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. Funded by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, the project collects and analyzes data on family planning, maternal and child health, nutrition, sanitation and other health-related issues. She previously served as senior technical advisor for population and metrics in the Bureau for Global Health at the U.S. Agency for International Development.

“We are pleased to welcome YJ Choi to PRB’s Board of Trustees. Her deep technical expertise as a data scientist and her knowledge of global health will be invaluable as PRB works to create better understanding of the impact of changing population dynamics on countries and communities,” said Geoff Dabelko, chair of PRB’s Board of Trustees.

Choi currently serves on the advisory board of Metrics for Management and is a member of the International Union for the Scientific Study of Population. She earned her master’s degree in public health and her doctorate in public health from Johns Hopkins University and her bachelor’s degree in nursing from Yonsei University in Seoul, South Korea.

“We are excited to welcome Dr. Choi to PRB’s Board and thank Amanda Glassman for her leadership and inspiration as her term ends,” PRB President and CEO Jeff Jordan said.

Glassman, executive vice president at the Center for Global Development, served on the Board for seven years, including two years as its chair.
